- ‘Nature from my perspective’: Mental modeling of outdoor retreat impacts on Black men’s well-being
This study was done in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Boyz N The Wood. Interviews were held with past participants to capture their experience of an outdoor retreat. With prompts from the interviewer, the participants created a mental model listing well-being impacts and linked elements, or characteristics, of the retreat that led to those impacts. These research briefs were put together from the results of two surveys sent out to practitioners and researchers in the nature and health field. The goals of the surveys were to better understand the work of each group, where they align and misalign in focus, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
