Our research focuses primarily on physical processes acting along river corridors, including physical-biotic interactions. We work on mountain streams, bedrock canyon rivers, floodplain rivers, big rivers and small rivers. Our rivers flow through deserts and steppes, the arctic, the tropics, alpine and subalpine regions, and temperate forests and rainforests. We seek to document and explain how the underlying physics of water and sediment moving across landscapes are expressed within the distinctive geology, climate, and geomorphic and ecological history of individual drainages. This website provides some insight into who we are, and what motivates, excites, perplexes, and amuses us.
