Microsoft Excel) to enhance their quantitative experience.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Learning Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After this assignments you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve your ability to work with .csv files.<\/li>\n<li>Expand the formats you can convert in Excel.<\/li>\n<li>Apply the \u2018subtotals\u2019 function to multi-step calculations in Excel.<\/li>\n<li>Use the \u2018sort\u2019 function in Excel.<\/li>\n<li>Create a figure with 2 y-axes.<\/li>\n<li>Modify axis labels on figure with two y-axes<\/li>\n<li>Add additional text to figure to enhance the information communicated with this format<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description of Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have provided you a video that describes the process of creating a climate diagram.\u00a0 The video will show you where to get your data and how to process it in Microscoft Excel so that you have the data necessary to create a climate diagram (see example below).\u00a0 I have made video for both Mac and PC users, and both videos can be viewed on our class Canvas page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rubric<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To get full credit on this assignment you will need to do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download a dataset that is at least 30 years in length <strong>(5 points)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Calculate the monthly averages for air temperature and precipitation<\/li>\n<li>Plot both temperature and precipitation on the same figure\n<ol>\n<li>Temperature must be represented by a red line <strong>(5 points)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Precipitation must be represented by a blue line <strong>(5 points)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Add a Title to the graph that includes\n<ol>\n<li>Location of your site <strong>(4 points)<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>(country, latitude, longitude, and elevation)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Mean daily maximum value of the warmest month <strong>(3 points)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Mean daily minimum value of the coldest month <strong>(3 points)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>MAP <strong>(3 points)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>MAT<strong> (3 points)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Years in the data set <strong>(2 points)<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Include both temperature and precipitation in the following format\n<ol>\n<li>[Tyy \u2013 Pyy]<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Two y-axes.
