About the Training:
Communications is more important than ever for successful conservation initiatives and organizations. Communications plays a central role in executing projects and programs, raising money, managing teams and boards, and sustaining collaborations across different organizations. Communications is also core to managing interpersonal relationships, including building trust and growing professional networks and alliances.
This three-hour workshop will train participants on the fundamentals of effective communications, drawing on Maliasili’s work with leading conservation organizations across eastern and southern Africa. Participants will gain a greater understanding of the value of core messages and storytelling and will have an opportunity to develop and workshop their own organizations’ stories and messages.
The workshop will also help participants develop their own core messages and stories for use in specific settings, such as presentations or networking events, and for different audiences, such as funders or community members.
This session will draw on experiences and practical examples from some of Maliasili’s partners in order to illustrate how communications can improve organizational performance.
