Historical Taverns of Córdoba
Did you know that in Cordoba there are several distinguished historical taverns?
The historic taverns of Cordoba have always been meeting and discussion places for intellectuals, bullfighters, artists, artisans or fans of flamenco, literature, bullfighting, sports or politics. Most of them are scattered throughout the historic center and are proud witnesses of the history of Cordoba society, having contributed to the development of community values such as tolerance, free exchange of knowledge, coexistence, remembrance, integration and friendship. Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Luis de Góngora, Julio Romero de Torres, Manolete, Ricardo Molina, the Cántico group, Valle-Inclán, Azorín, Ortega y Gasset or Pío Baroja, among others, have passed through them.

1. Bodegas Campos. c/ Lineros, 32.
Open to the public since 1964, it is formed by a group of old Cordovan houses and patios from different periods. A tavern restaurant that is since then one of the most emblematic places, and a must-visit, in the city of Cordoba.
2. Taberna de San Miguel or Casa El Pisto. Plaza San Miguel, 1.
Founded in 1880. It has wine from Moriles to accompany an excellent homemade cuisine, which offers bull tails, pig’s trotters, croquettes, meatballs, and, other delights

The rooms, patios, and corners preserve the typical Andalusian architectural and decorative elements. And how could it be otherwise, in our typical Cordovan tavern you will find the best of the gastronomy of our land: salmorejo, flamenquín, fried eggplants, oxtail… as well as our specialty in mountain meats (wild boar, suckling pig, venison…).
4. Taberna Seneca Sociedad de Plateros. Plaza Seneca, 4.
The Taberna Seneca was founded in 1874, in a building from 1857. Given its location as well as its belonging to the Sociedad de Plateros, it has been one of the most famous taverns in the city.

6 . Taberna Casa Salinas. c/ Tundidores, 3.
Typical Cordovan tavern since 1966. Great variety of tapas specializing in anchovies in vinegar, salmorejo, ham flamenquin, meatballs, and cod croquettes. All are homemade and accompanied by wines from Montilla-Morilles.
7 . Taberna Bodega Rafae. c/Deanes, 2.
It was inaugurated in 1977. A typical Cordovan establishment covered with bullfighting emblems and decorated with rustic motifs. Over time, it has been reformed and adapted, but always preserving the essence that brought it to the top of the local gastronomy: its traditional cuisine.
8. El Churrasco. c/Romero, 16.
The bar of this restaurant will become one of your favorite places in Cordoba. While it is one of the best grilled meats restaurant, inthe bar area you can try tapas oftheir best meats and stews.
9. Taberna Bar Santos. 3, Magistral Gonzalez Frances Street.
A small tavern that opened its doors in 1966. Bar Santos is synonymous with tortilla. And it is famous in the city for its huge tortillas, as well as tasty for many.
