Photograph by Rob Schorr.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ecology, movement, and population parameters (U.S. Air Force Academy)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1994 CNHP has worked with the Natural Resources Branch of the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to conserve and manage the Preble&#8217;s meadow jumping mouse (<em>Zapus hudsonius preblei<\/em>) populations on the Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Efforts to understand habitat use and PMJM movement patterns began in 1997 with the use of radiotelemetry. In 1998 a mark-recapture study was initiated along Monument Creek, with the study design being refined in 2000. From 2003 &#8211; 2005 fat sampling was conducted to look at composition and quantity of fat stored prior to and after hibernation.
