History

In 2022, the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and the Center for Protected Area Management at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, hosted the conference virtually. This structure attracted more than 1,000 registrants from 55 countries. The conference featured 27 plenary speakers, including six student presentations, engaging networking opportunities, and community boards.

In 2021, the Deggendorf Institute of Technology in Deggendorf, Germany, hosted the conference as an online symposium. This structure attracted more than 1,000 registrants from all over the world. Additionally, DIT developed a new innovative format to enhance our participants’ experience.

In 2019, TNC was held in Buxton, England, and hosted by the University of Derby. This conference was a great success with 211 attendees from 12 countries, 7 different universities and 40 presentations and speakers.

In 2018, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU) hosted the 2nd Tourism Naturally Conference. This conference attracted 105 participants to the beautiful Zell am See-Kaprun in Austria.

In 2016, Tourism Naturally’s inaugural conference was hosted by the Human Dimensions of Natural Resources Department at Colorado State University in conjunction with the University if Sassari. This conference was held in the historical center of Alghero, Italy, a small and charming seaside city on the island of Sardinia.
