“Restoration ecology is a relatively new science, but in its short life
it has assumed a major role in sustainable development efforts across the globe.
Our planet’s future may depend on the maturation of this young discipline.”
-Science magazine (2009, vol. 325, No. 594)
In the Restoration Ecology Lab, we conduct innovative applied research on ways to assist the recovery of ecosystems throughout the United States that have been degraded, damaged, or destroyed by land use, pollutants, or natural disasters. Preparing undergraduate and graduate students for careers as professionals prepared to tackle current and future ecological restoration challenges is a core part of our research program.
