Human-wildlife interactions
We work both nationally and internationally to understand how how species interactions and the ecological roles that animals play are reshaped by human-wildlife interactions.
Does fear of humans drive pervasive changes across ecological interaction networks?
We aim to evaluate whether the fear that humans inspire as top predators can reshape ecological interactions and processes across broad taxonomic scales, from soundscapes to pathogens to predators. Our international team of wildlife biologists is deploying an experimental study at research platforms in South Africa to evaluate whether avoidance of perceived human threats by apex predators drives pervasive changes that alter wildlife communities and ecosystem functions.
