Tom Hilton
PhD student
Tom is an economist with some 10 years' experience working on sustainable development programs across Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Past experience includes program evaluations, strategy development, and policy advisory work for a range of NGOs, foundations, and multilateral and bilateral donors.
At CSU, Tom is researching market-based approaches to biodiversity conservation across the Global South, seeking to understand how environmentally sustainable behaviour can be incentivised within complex market systems. Current projects relate to elephant conservation in Tanzania and forest conservation in Kenya.
When he isn't pondering these issues, Tom enjoys wandering the mountains and snapping photos.
