Tyler Nuckols

PhD student

Tyler's professional career has centered around conservation, communications, and environmental justice in various countries, with organizations of diverse structures and sizes. Most notably, they spent two years working as a manager for E.L.I.E., a captive and wild elephant focused N.G.O. in Cambodia.

Tyler's research focuses on Social-Ecological science and community-based conservation to find innovative solutions that simultaneously improve local livelihoods and achieve elephant conservation aims. Current projects concern human-elephant conflict mitigation using alternative crops and market-based connections in Sri Lanka and across Asia.

Outside work and academia, Tyler is an advocate and organizer for social and environmental justice movements. In downtime, Tyler is a houseplant enthusiast and enjoys hiking, kayaking, and recreating with partner and pup.
