Join us for the 2nd iteration of the Pathways Europe: Human Dimensions of Wildlife Conference and Training, hosted by Colorado State University and the Wageningen University and Research Cultural Geography, Forest and Nature Conservation Policy and Sociology of Development and Change Groups! The conference will be held from Sept. 20-23 at the Wageningen International Congress Centre in Wageningen, The Netherlands. For 2020, we will explore the crucial question: how can we share landscapes in a way that are beneficial for both humans and wildlife, while social representation in decision making is increasingly dynamic and unpredictable?

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN for the Women Conservationists Leadership Workshop (14th-16th February 2020) at the Pathways Africa 2020: Human Dimensions of Wildlife Conference and Training!
Pride Lion Conservation Alliance and Colorado State University have joined forces to offer a special training as part of Pathways Africa 2020: Human Dimensions of Wildlife Conference and Training. The focus of the training is to help African women conservation leaders strengthen their leadership skillsets to both achieve their goals and achieve greater conservation outcomes across Africa. The training will be held the Brackenhurst Conference and Training Center in Limuru, Kenya.
This 3-day training workshop will offer personal growth opportunities such as leadership identity development, mentorship training, negotiation/conflict resolution skills, and creating a peer network of women conservation leaders to support one another in achieving greater conservation impact. Space is limited and the deadline for applications is 31st August, 2019.
After careful deliberation, the PRIDE-CSU planning team has made the decision to change the dates of the Pathways Kenya Conference. This was not a decision we made lightly, and we apologize for any inconvenience to those who may have already begun to make scheduling arrangements for this event. This decision was made solely for the purpose of making the conference more accessible to African practitioners and researchers by accommodating the local holiday schedule in Kenya.
The conference will now take place from February 16th-19th, 2020at the Brackenhurst Conference and Training Center in Limuru, Kenya. Please see below for notable scheduling adjustments, or visit the conference website for more info.
The Women’s Leadership Training will be held prior to the conference from the 14th-16th (arrival on the 13th).
We have also revised our prior theme of “Collaboration that Works” to emphasize our focus on the current critical issue of exclusion in African conservation. The new theme for Pathways 2020 will be “Open the Door to Diverse Voices”. We will examine the costs of excluding diverse voices in our decision-making teams and conservation programs and the benefits we will gain by their inclusion. We hope to provide a closer examination of how balanced leadership teams, effective collaborations, and diverse voices improve conservation impacts. We will also consider the individual and organizational change required to create an environment for innovative, long lasting solutions to address the complex crises of biodiversity loss and climate change and their impacts across Africa. We invite your perspectives on this critical topic.
