Many wetland and riparian ecosystems have been disturbed or destroyed by filling, drainage, dewatering, exotic plant invasions, mining, river damming, and many other processes. We work to understand the changes that have occurred over time scales from years to centuries, the processes that have disturbed the ecosystem being studied, and develop approaches and methods for restoring the ecosystem hydrologic regime, vegetation and site functioning. Each case study described here provides a detailed accounting of the cause of disturbance, and the processes of restoration.
