Colorado Tourism Research Network

13 April 2026

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Colorado Tourism Office and Dr. Christina T. Cavaliere, thank you for your participation in the inaugural meeting of the Colorado Tourism Research Network (CTRN) on 7 April 2026. Your contributions and thoughtful engagement were instrumental in shaping the early foundation of this collaborative statewide effort.

As discussed, the CTRN is designed to strengthen tourism research across Colorado in alignment with the Colorado Destination Stewardship Strategic Plan (DSSP). The network will focus on coordinated research, shared data resources, collaborative projects, and opportunities for researcher engagement. A refined and co-constructed Terms of Reference (TOR) will guide this work, emphasizing research alignment with the DSSP, partnership development, and integration of teaching and applied research.

We are pleased to share that the second CTRN meeting is scheduled for *Wednesday, 7 October 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.* Please mark your calendars. Prior to the meeting, we will request your feedback on the attached TOR to ensure it reflects shared priorities and supports effective collaboration.

The first meeting’s PDF along with updates related to the CTRN will be available on the Cavaliere Critical Conservation Lab website.

Thank you again for your commitment to advancing tourism research and destination stewardship across Colorado. We look forward to continuing this important work together.

With appreciation,

Jill Corbin and Dr. Christina T. Cavaliere

Dear Colleagues,

Please considering joining the newly established Colorado Tourism Research Network (CTRN). More information regarding the CTRN will be included here as the network develops. The invitation from the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) is included below:

Dear Colorado Academia Friends,

On behalf of the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO), I’m pleased to invite you to help shape an important new statewide initiative: the Colorado Tourism Research Network (CTRN). We will host an initial virtual meeting on Tuesday, April 7, from 12:00–1:00 p.m. (MT) via Zoom.

Destination stewardship is a strategic priority for the CTO. In 2024, we launched the Colorado Destination Stewardship Strategic Plan to advance tourism in a way that preserves Colorado’s distinctive character and resources while improving the quality of life for residents and enriching the visitor experience.

As we move further into implementing this plan, we see a critical opportunity to strengthen how we measure tourism’s impacts and to better connect academic research and student learning with real-world destination decision-making. In partnership with Dr. Christina T. Cavaliere, Tenured Associate Professor at Colorado State University, we are convening this exploratory session to gauge interest and begin shaping how this network could be structured, supported, and sustained.

An agenda will be shared with registered participants before the meeting. Please register here: Zoom Meeting

We encourage you to share this invitation with colleagues who may be interested in participating. If you have any questions before the session, please feel free to reach out to me or to Dr. Cavaliere.

We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with you.
