Advisor: Dr. Ellen Wohl
Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Sarah got her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in traditional geology. After graduating, Sarah moved to Kingston, NY for a year-long internship with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection where she developed bankfull discharge-hydraulic geometry regional relationships for Catskill streams. Through this internship, she met Ellen, her current advisor. The following summer, she worked as a Geomorphology Technician at Mount Rainier National Park through the Geoscientists-In-the-Parks program. Currently, Sarah studies the influences of valley geometry and wood on sediment distribution in Biscuit Brook, a picturesque stream in New York that is part of the NYC water supply.
