Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Sarah got her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a geology major and music minor. After graduating, Sarah interned with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection’s Stream Management Program. After New York, Sarah worked as a Geomorphology Technician at Mount Rainier National Park. For her Master’s at CSU, Sarah studied the influences of valley geometry and wood on sediment distribution in Biscuit Brook, a picturesque stream in the Catskill Mountains. Currently, Sarah’s PhD research involves developing monitoring strategies and investigating carbon sequestration potential in Stage 0 stream restoration projects. She collaborates with the US Forest Service and private river restoration firms in Oregon and Colorado.
