Design Matrix Reorder Columns

Columns in the design matrix can be moved to different positions by placing the cursor on the column heading and holding down on the left mouse button and dragging the column to a new position.  Being able to move the columns is helpful to setting up complicated design matrices.

Once columns are in the desired order, this order can be preserved by right-clicking the design matrix window and selecting “Reorder Columns” from the pop-up menu.  The design matrix will be re-created with the columns now ordered B1 … Bn.  In other words, reordering columns is basically the same as renumbering the beta parameters.

If you do not reorder the columns before the model is run, the ordering will be lost, with the original ordering of betas in the estimates.
